  • A fine introduction to Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band, A SPECIAL EP sets the downtempo groove going immediately with "Clouds," a capable, if slightly common, track. "Nikita," even in its slightly remade form here, remains a strong track. More changed is "A Special Morning," which loses some of its dub content in favor of an easygoing calm. Finally, "Menage a Trois" starts off cinematic, but eases into its skewed bossa-tinged groove quickly enough. Calm and collected -- a nice EP overall.
